Bruce is a Burdekin local, having been born, raised and educated in Ayr. He has lived in Ayr all of his life and has an intimate knowledge of the Burdekin District.
After completing his education at East Ayr State School and Ayr State High School, Bruce studied Law externally while working for local Solicitor John D. Francis under Articles of Clerkship. Following the closure of Mr Francis’ practice, he took up employment with Groves and Clark at the beginning of 1974, completed his legal studies and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in October 1974. He became a partner of Groves and Clark effective 1 January 1975.
During his legal career, Bruce has practised in almost every area of Law. He now practises primarily in matters involving the sugar industry and sugar cane farms, commercial and residential conveyancing, leasing, wills, estates and estate planning although he also handles other matters as required.
Bruce adopts a common sense approach to most issues and tries to achieve a prompt, realistic and cost effective outcome to clients’ problems.
Bruce is married with two adult children. His recreational interests are the Australian Air Force Cadets, fishing, and playing the bagpipes.

Rebecca is a local having been born and raised in the Burdekin. She completed her primary and secondary schooling at Airville State School and Burdekin Catholic High School respectively before attending James Cook University where she obtained a Bachelor of Commerce-Bachelor of Laws in 1998.
Rebecca commenced her Articles of Clerkship with Suthers & Taylor in Townsville before joining Groves and Clark in November 1999 and completing her Articles. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a Solicitor in February 2001 and also to the High Court of Australia later that year. Rebecca became a Partner of the firm in 2004.
Rebecca practises in Residential, Rural & Commercial Conveyancing, Succession Law & Estate Planning.
Rebecca is married and has two sons. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her Husband, children & her extended family and friends.
Alicia is a senior solicitor within the Groves and Clark team having joined the firm in January 2017.
She holds a dual degree of Bachelor of Commerce – Bachelor of Laws from James Cook University which she completed in 2000. She obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology in 2002 and was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2003.
Alicia worked for a short while as an Accountant at a Townsville Accounting firm before joining a large prominent Townsville law firm where she worked for a number of years before taking a break from the legal profession to be a Mum to her three sons.
Practicing in Residential, Rural & Commercial Conveyancing, Succession Law, Estate Administration and Leasing, Alicia has a particular interest in agribusiness transactions.
Alicia is a proud born and bred Burdekin girl and part owner of a local sugar cane farming business with her husband Michael. She brings to her agribusiness clients a wealth of knowledge of the sugar industry and a practical approach to helping clients achieve desired outcomes
Alicia currently sits on the board of directors of St Francis Primary School, Ayr and in her down time can often be found fishing with her family.
